Isabella Almeida is a 20 year old photographer based in Los Angeles.
After years of capturing the world on her grandmother’s cameras, she discovered that it had, through her lens, changed. There were lights, shadows, and details she’d not noticed before.
She was accepted into Pratt Institute in New York as a member of its smallest freshman class on record, where she learned that where you grow your craft is as important as how. After taking hundreds of pictures of the city, and looking at them through critical eyes, she understood that, to expand her own work, it was important to return to where she began. She returned to Los Angeles, where she not only sees but understands the changing light of the seasons and time, and how it envelopes the city and its people.
Despite her youth, her eye tends to channel the old soul in her. Like her preference for old cars to new, and film to digital, her storytelling is classic and timeless. Her photography centers on the complementary nature of color and black & white. While color captures vividly what can be seen by the naked eye, black & white unmasks in detail what is happening beneath.
Isabella specializes in portraiture and lifestyle, and is obsessed with experimenting and expanding her craft.
